Nikolay Merkushkin and Bo Andersson meeting

On April 2, 2015 the Governor of Samara region Nikolay Merkushkin organized meeting with President of AVTOVAZ Bo Andersson. They discussed the results of AVTOVAZ activity during the first quarter of 2015.

“For the first three months of this year our plant produced 134 thousands cars and our market share is growing in Russia. In February it was 19%, but in March this index became over 20%” – Bo Andersson said.

The head of the region noted that last year the task was to reach 1/5 of Russian market share in 3-4 years. “The automotive market in our country became weaker by almost 30%. Nevertheless AVTOVAZ managed to maintain its position and increase the amount of production and sales,” – the Governor said.

As well Nikolay Merkushkin and Bo Andersson discussed the operation of AVTOVAZ plant with its suppliers. "This is a very important area of work. Recently this production segment could not give a quality that AVTOVAZ needed. It seems that providers thought that the plant would take whatever they offer, whether it is high-quality component or not. Now the situation has changed"- said the head of the region.

President of AVTOVAZ said that the plant together with the "Rostec" tries to restructure a number of companies that supply automotive components.

"Today we have visited one of these plants called "Motor-super". This is a quite competitive enterprise. In order to improve the quality of products we need to optimize its performance. Particularly, we want to move the part of "Motor-super" production to our internal platform," - said Bo Andersson.

Bo Andersson also said that he will visit Dimitrovgrad city, Ulyanovsk region. "There are a lot of questions to manufacturers of automotive components. Dimitrovgrad’s companies do not meet our requirements and expectations," - noted Andersson.

Likewise he added that he will visit Moscow to meet the Governor of Ulyanovsk region Sergey Morozov, where they will discuss the modernization of Dimitrovgrad’s enterprises. "I have already talked to Sergey Morozov. Currently, there is a very difficult situation, and nothing has been done to meet the modern requirements," - said Nikolay Merkushkin.

In conclusion the head of the region emphasized that the consumer is interested in buying only good quality cars. "For a long time, even large suppliers spoiled the situation. We had to withdraw the new cars because of poor quality. There was a serious work in recent years. Automotive component manufacturers began to rebuild themselves to meet modern requirements", - concluded Nikolay Merkushkin.
